Other Strategies for Success
Third grade is a year when children grow immensely. One of goals for our students is for them to increase their level of responsibility with regard to their education. Teaching time management and organizational skills both in school and at home will help the students achieve their goals in many areas of their lives.
Occasionally, the 3rd grade team assigns long term projects. Helping your child plan out a schedule for working on small pieces of the project each day will provide the support needed to reduce stress about the project. Encourage your child to work at a steady pace on these projects rather than wait until the last minute will increase their pleasure, pride, and quality as they work. While I do expect some parent involvement on projects, the final product should be a true reflection of the child's knowledge and ability level. Remember focus on the effort and the journey not the final product.
